The Centers

The Advanced Metalworking Centers for Excellence are specialized hands-on training programs available at three southern Mississippi colleges – Jones County Junior College, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and Pearl River Community College. The Centers are dedicated to providing expert instruction and certification to national standards designed to meet industry demands for highly skilled workers.

Jones County Junior College

Located in Ellisville, Mississippi, the Advanced Metalworking Center at Jones County Junior College offers hands-on training for a number of different metalworking machines, in addition to teaching blueprint reading, shop math, metallurgy, and other necessary skills.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College

The Advanced Metalworking Center for Excellence at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is located at the college’s Gulfport campus. Welding and pipefitting programs offer training, for beginning and advanced-level students, using a variety of welding, cutting, and fitting techniques.

Pearl River Community College

Pearl River Community College

In addition to welding and machining training, the Pearl River Community College Advanced Metalworking Center for Excellence teaches quality engineering concepts, including hands-on training for testing, measurement, and inspection skills. The program also trains students on the principles of ISO 9000, 6-Sigma, and other common quality management systems and practices.
